The circular economy is going to change our way of life and the dynamics of the value chain.
EBSA sees clear business opportunities in the circular economy, as business services often lead to more efficient use of ressources and the increasing awareness of the challenges to our environment could lead to an increase in servicification.
While EBSA do recognize the value of the Ecolabel for products, we are hesitant about its extension to services. Any such extension should be done in close collaboration with the sector and only when there is a demand for such a label. Services are performed in very diverse environments and under changing conditions which makes it hard to develop meaningful criteria for a service Ecolabel. In some instances the result is, that the requirements refer back to the products used to perform the service. In this case, it is hard for EBSA’s members to see the added value of the service Ecolabel.
