Last week the European Commission as well as Copenhagen Economics published interesting reports that underline the importance of the internal market, and especially the untapped potential for services. EBSA welcomes this renewed attention to the remaining barriers in the single market for services and the imperfect implementation of the services directive.

The European Commission calculates that the untapped potential in the single market for services is EUR 338 billion, whereas Copenhagen Economics concludes, that if the service directive was fully implemented and enforced it could add at least 2% to EU GDP.

EBSA hopes that the new Commission and Parliament will keep these numbers ind mind and help our industries unfold the potential.
